Miniature schnauzers are an alert and energetic breed, and are obedient and easy to train. They are friendly, intelligent and willing to please. They are never aggressive or timid. They tend to be excellent watchdogs, with a good territorial instinct, but they are more inclined toward barking than biting.
Miniature Schnauzers are bright and friendly, small enough to adapt to apartment life but tireless enough to patrol acres of farmland. They get along well with other animals and kids. Minis are sturdy little guys and enjoy vigorous play. Home and family oriented, they make great watchdogs.
Miniature Schnauzers are generally healthy dogs with a life expectancy of between 12–15 years. However, many factors can affect a dog's life expectancy, including their diet, living environment, exercise plan, and overall health. If your dog is in general good health, it is not unheard of for Mini Schnauzers to live past 15 years.
The Miniature Schnauzer is not a “wash and wear” dog. They do require regular grooming every 4-6 weeks. This breed does require frequent brushing and combing, nail trimming, ear cleaning, as well as clipping.
